A native New Yorker with a Wall Street pedigree, Matthew Melinger brings a rare combination of financial acumen, market intelligence, negotiating expertise, and deeply personal client service to every transaction.
Raised on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, Matthew developed an early appreciation for the city’s architecture, neighborhoods, and the ever-evolving urban landscape. After earning a degree in Finance and Accounting from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business, he began his career on Wall Street, working with leading financial institutions and later contributing to the growth of a successful hedge fund. The experience instilled a disciplined, analytical approach to evaluating opportunities, managing complex negotiations, and understanding the motivations behind every deal.
Real estate, however, was always the greater passion. Matthew ultimately transitioned into the industry, where he quickly distinguished himself not only as a trusted advisor to buyers and sellers, but also as a leader. Before joining Brown Harris Stevens, he served as Sales & Leasing Director for a boutique Midtown brokerage, managing a team of more than 40 agents while building an extensive network throughout New York.
Today, Matthew represents clients across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the East End of Long Island, bringing particular expertise to the distinctive markets of New York City and the Hamptons. His approach is highly personalized and deliberately hands-on: understanding what matters to each client, identifying opportunities others may overlook, anticipating challenges before they arise, and negotiating with precision when it matters most.
That philosophy has translated into more than $100 million in overall sales volume. His professional recognition includes being named a top 50 agent companywide at Brown Harris Stevens, 2-time Referral Agent of the Year, and has ranked among the top 1.5% of licensed real estate professionals both in New York and nationwide for over half a decade.
For Matthew, real estate is ultimately about far more than the transaction. It is about understanding a client’s ambitions, providing candid counsel, and creating the confidence to make consequential decisions. His clients value his responsiveness, discretion, market knowledge, and unwavering commitment to their interests—qualities that have helped turn transactions into long-term relationships.
Whether navigating the complexities of a Manhattan co-op, sourcing a distinctive downtown property, marketing a sophisticated townhouse, or advising on a Hamptons estate, Matthew brings the same standard to every assignment: strategic thinking, meticulous execution, and service that extends well beyond the closing table.
